Relationships and Me

I’ve been single all my life. There are many reasons for both that and why I didn’t have friends most of my life, but I will only focus on two. The biggest reason is that I was homeschooled and lacked the same amount of exposure to other people that most people get. The second reason is because, for the longest time, I had a mindset of only focusing on work and school. I felt like I never had the mental space for a relationship.

Eventually I may talk about my romantic preferences and my past romantic failures, but today, I simply want to say that I’m finally in a place where I’m ready for a relationship. In the past, I thought I was ready, but I wasn’t. Now, I am more ready than I’ve ever been. I’m ready to put myself out there and not take it personally if it doesn’t go anywhere. A lot of people aren’t at a place where they’re ready to date and that’s ok. Not everyone I’m attracted to will be attracted to me, and that’s ok too. It’s better to think of it as a fun new opportunity to get to know someone. It’s exciting and a bit scary, but that’s life right? I’m confident and motivated so we’ll see how it goes.
