A thousand and one ideas

I write every day depending on your definition of writing. Throughout the day I make notes of random thoughts, 5-minute poems, and voice memos of ideas for future stories. I guess I’d consider this writing. I am almost never lacking ideas, only time.

However, sometimes I’m working on a story and it’s not working and I need to take a break to write something else. When that occurs, all of the scraps become useful. I find one that I like and turn it from a scrap into a full piece of art. It’s not a perfect system, I have always had more ideas than time. I’m sure that on my death bed I’ll have a thousand and one ideas still left unused, but I guess that’s the curse of being an artist (I consider writing an art btw).

So go write something today. Even one sentence can plant the seed that blossoms into a full novel some day. And don’t be afraid to move on and save your scraps for later. I eat leftovers and sometimes I chop up the baked chicken I had the other day and throw it into a quesadilla. It’s all writing. It all counts. You’ll thank yourself some day. I know I have.

Thanks 👍🏾
