TikTok 6: A new direction

You may have noticed that I changed the name of this section of my blog. Previously, I had titled it “The Tiktokification of AAVE.” However, in my research on this topic, I became interested in something related but different. What fascinated me most was the fast spreading of culture through TikTok. I am sure that the TikTok and AAVE rabbit hole is much deeper and I could find much, much more about it (I already have read a lot of interesting literature on the topic that I haven’t addressed here yet), but to be honest, it is very depressing. Instead, I have become interested in how the internet and more specifically, TikTok, allows for culture to spread in a way that may not have been possible previously. In all honesty, I am sort of restarting over a bit. It is not a full topic change, yet my previous research is not very applicable. I’ll start digging again and see what I find. My professor has also recommended that the class check out a site called The Electric Typewriter. I intend to suppliment my research with articles from this site, so I found essays about social media.
