You will come of age with our young nation
We’ll bleed and fight for you
We’ll make it right for you
If we lay a strong enough foundation
We’ll pass it on to you, we’ll give the world to you
And you’ll blow us all away
Someday, someday
Yeah, you’ll blow us all away
Someday, someday
—From “Dear Theodosia” from Hamilton: The Musical
I wrote a lot of poetry about my experiences.
I wrote about how pain motivates me to create, that was published in Arrow Rock.
I wrote some poetry about the pain of poverty in the midst of grief that was also published in Arrow Rock.
I wrote about the pain of watching my mother suffer and that kind of helplessness that comes with it that was published in Sufferer’s Digest.
I wrote a poem that I put in a personal chapbook:

All of my grandparents and family that have passed away told me they saw greatness in me. I try to see what they saw, but I can’t. I can only hope that I can find that greatness within me and make them proud. Nana, Poppy, Grandma Walls, GG, Uncle Bobby, I will do my best. Le quiero. Le prometo que tendré mucho éxito. Simplemente esperen.
